Dear visitor to Theater Waidspeicher,

On behalf of the ensemble, I bid you a heart-felt welcome to the 2011/2012 season!

If you and your children are new to the puppet theatre, then I am confident that you will develop a life long love for the charm of our animated protagonists. If you are already a friend of the art of puppetry, then we will do everything we can to match the high standards that you rightfully expect of us. In each case we concentrate our energy, imagination and professionalism on creating interesting and inspiring productions for you.

In addition to our repertoire of thirteen productions we have prepared five premières for your enjoyment:

The short novel “Der Tod in Venedig” (Death in Venice) by Thomas Mann will be the centre-piece of a theatre evening for theatre-goers over 16 years of age. It combines the virtuosities of an actor and of three puppeteers. “Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot” (Snow-White and Rose-Red) based of the story by the Brothers Grimm is conceived for all lovers of fairy stories aged five or upwards. With “Peter Pan” we tell the story of the boy who did not want to grow up, for school children aged 8 or older. There is a première for our youngest visitors “Zwei Monster” (Two Monsters), a story about wanting-to-be-right-despite-being-wrong and a co-production with Thuringian Landestheater Rudolstadt. Finally we have dedicated a production for 10 year-olds and older, to the great classical story by Ovid “Metamorphosen” (Metamorphoses).

I conclude my message to you with the good news that the international puppet-theatre festival SYNERGURA is now being planned as the highlight of the summer of 2012.
